The cowl flaps on Commandos were only on the lower half of the nacelle ... I have no idea what those upper flaps are doing there and they look fixed to me. Certainly odd.

I especially like that visionary 1898 cartoon - the aircraft is far more streamlined than aircraft of the following 40+ years and we are still working on the concepts.
