    playing with goggle earth today, found an intersting airplane in Geneva, a c47 complete with invasion stripes

    anyone know the story behind this?

    There are a few around in Europe. Depending when the pic was taken, it could have been the one operated by the BBMF, during one of the air show season tours? Also, the Dutch Dakota Association had their Dak painted in D-day markings at one time, and at least one was so painted for the filming of 'Band of Brothers', some scenes of which, depicting the final days of the War, and including a C47, were filmed in Austria and Switzerland I believe. That Dak I think was on the British register, possibly operated by Air Atlantique, and also used for the parachute training scenes and other para-dropping action.
