I had my eye a 42 Plymouth pickup way back in the late 1960s for a few years. It was the delivery truck for a fellow hardware store and when the independent hardware stores began organizing as Ace and True Value, some chose to quit business, especially those who were marginal in profit. I had long expressed my desire to buy it and of course my first daughter was just born and I passed on the truck. Later, my hardware's old boss called to tell me he was closing and the 57 Ranchero I made deliveries with could be mine as I had always wanted. Unfortunately, daughter number two had just arrived so once again no deal. One of the few Fords I liked, 292 V-8, 3 speed manual with overdrive.
