GTX on 19/12/24 supplied documents setting out details of the crash. Reference is made to the flight with, to and from details, referring to No 113 Air Sea Rescue.
A check on No 113 Air Sea Rescue Flight RAAF sets out details of it being operational after leaving Queensland and arriving in Morotai in early March 1945. The site contains details and a clear photo of a Catalina aircraft and crew.

GTX sure knows his way around the NAA and AWM sites.

I sent a reply, it may be on the post with GTX.

Rex - You can look up his service history on the NAA site and get Postings, Attachment and Listings and then look up details of the Squadron he was attached to and the Aircraft Aircraft A24-98.
Peter.. Yes thanks... I have seen the NAA recordings but a mysterious gap during his time in Indonesia

Good Morning,
My father served 43-45 in the RAAF and in 45 with Catalina 42 Squadron. Unfortunately I do not have any personal photos. Here are details of A24-98

Bu.46534
8 Com Unit 7/7/44.
111 Air Sea Rescue Flight 1/1/45.
111 Air Sea Rescue Flight 1/1/45.
Sank Balikpapan 1/7/45.
Given to Netherlands Government, 1953 and renumbered as P-244 & scrapped 1957.
I'm new to this, but I looked up his service record and his squadron details on the NAA site and the internet for information and photos. I received valuable information from fellow posters.
Cheers
Peter.
Peter...I found the photo of A24-99. Looks like Indonesia.
Rex
