AMERICAN AIRCRAFT IN ROYAL AIR FORCE SERVICE 1939-1945: CONSOLIDATED LIBERATOR.

Liberator C Mark IX, JT978, at the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment, Boscombe Down, Wiltshire. This aircraft served with No. 45 (Atlantic Transport) Group at Dorval, Montreal, Canada, before being handed over to the US Navy in 1946.

Not a USAAF B-24 but a USN PB4Y-1 version.

Later PB4Y-1 conversions were fitted with this or the standard Consolidated turret in the nose.
