Some pictures of the F4A, taken in the MTU-Museum in Munich.
The F4A was the prototype for the DB600. It is the only copy left.



Thanks to a mirror, one can also see the bottom well
 
Wow! The F4A looks significantly different that a DB601 in a number of respects. Looks like individual cylinder heads!

Any there sources that might describe the differences?
 
That would be very appreciated by many petrol heads, if possible Augsberg

I especially like the 'conformal' wrap around style coolant (steam) condensing tank on the side(?) and the additional head fins and (inverted) sump plate fins, along with its very well restored condition make this look almost like it could be related be a recent 1970's endurance/F1 or 90's truck racing motor.

It does seem that its supercharger output - charged induction system, isn't pressure vs. flow balanced with an offset splitter for the left and right banks though, but that could be the picture angles or is it possible dual super-charged (one for each bank of cylinders?).
