DB605 Crankcase

Hello Everyone
12 years later, 2022 ... Roush did not succeed to make any Merlin or DB605 engines but one company called Custom Manufacturing Services (CMS) is going to attempt the first trial of making new DB605 engine blocks cast in Elektron 675 and then CNC with a 5 axis.

CMS leveraged new technologies which were not available when this post originated in 2010, since Daimler Benz drawings have been found and original parts acquired which will allow the dream of new DB605 to eventually become reality.

Enjoy the future!

This is a big subject. AFAIK, no one has produced major WW2 aeroengine castings that satisfy certification other than Retro Track and Air in UK who have done Rolls Royce Merlin cylinderheads. Does anyone have info about others?
The OP on this thread, "Barry" at Black Cross Aviation seems to have gone since 2014. Did he sell his parts to Mike Nixon?

Cheers

Thanks for the information and update.
Do you have any idea where these DB-605 manufacturing drawings have been found or who to contact?
Are you involved in this CMS project?
