I will be building F-105D-5-RE 59-1719 of the 354th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 355th Tactical Fighter Wing, Takhli Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand. It was shot down over Laos on 16 January 1966 by 37mm antiaircraft fire while on a on a photo reconnaissance mission over Xieng Khouang Province, Laos. The pilot, Captain Don C. Wood, was listed as missing in action but A Pathet Lao source interrogated in Laos in 1974 described the recovery of a U.S. airman who ejected from an aircraft hit by flak from the Pathet Lao Regional Headquarters at Phou Kout. I had made a start on this kit back in group build 51, but only managed to glue the wings together and spray some paint on the cockpit parts before I ran out of time. Hopefully I can finish it this time.

 
Decades ago a friend of my parents, a USAF pilot, sent me this same model through his colleagues who were in Torrejón, which I undoubtedly built quickly, it was one of the first ones I painted with an airbrush and the plane was one of the ideas I had for this work group, it was to make the F105D (white JJ) which was based at the American base in Korat, Thailand until 1968 when they were replaced by the first MD F4 phantom models, but to this day it has not arrived, whoever I ordered it from first had to order it from the distributor and has not received it yet so I still have time for it to arrive, good luck with it.
 
I took a couple of pictures of what has previously been done on this kit. The top and bottom parts of the wings have been glued together, and gray paint had been sprayed on the cockpit tub and seats (only one will be used). I'm thinking of grinding the harness off and replacing it with one of my wine bottle harnesses. If I mess up the removal, I already have a spare seat.

 
You must have brushed off the cobwebs.
 
I did a bit of work on the ejection seat while waiting for paint to try on the F-82. I removed the molded in harness, drilled out some lightening holes on the sides and behind the headrest and put on some paint. Still need to give it a dark wash and make up the new harness. Here it is next to an un-modified seat.
