Dornier Do nightfighters.....

How many, if any, made ace in any of the Dornier Do 17, 215 or 217 nightfighters?

Granted, it wasn't very popular, but it seems at least one guy could make it work. Rudolf Schoenert (60 kills) is recognized as the instigator of upward-firing armament in German night fighter aircraft, which he introduced into his own Dornier Do-17 in 1942. The concept was dubbed Schräge Musik. Schoenert claimed the first aerial victory with Schräge Musik in May 1943. He bounced around to several squadrons, so who knows how many kills he had in a Dornier, but it did serve as a successful test-bed.

Ludwig Becker was the best known ace on Dorniers (215B-5) and the "father of early nacht jager tactics", but he was lost flying a Bf110G-4 in 1943 in the short "experiment" of using night fighters vs daylight USAAF raids......

The Dornier 215B had a lot of potential left if it had got the DB605 engine upgrade, and it could carry internal fuel in its bomb bay space unlike the overburdened Bf110G.

I'm reading History of the German Night Fighter Force 1917-1945 by Gebhard Aders. In it he lists that in September 1943 there were still lots of problems getting radar sets and only these aircraft were fitted with Lichtenstein 202 B/C or 212 C-1.
