I think first undecipherable word is "Given" and second is "Ballistics".

Hi Jim,
The writing is scrawl in places and that bit is very bad. However, I suspect he was trying to write, Given, started with a lower case g and couldn't be bothered.

Ok. I think I've got it now, the word in question is otherwise, written on two lines:

To begin with the bomb would have to be perfectly balanced round it's axis. otherwise rotation at 500 RPM would wreck the aircraft or tear the bomb loose.

Hi Jim. Well, I don't see "other", or the "wise" bit anywhere. The "vibration" word is definitely there. I suspect the "g????" could have been another word but, it still makes sense if the "g????" word is disregarded. Fortunately, I do not think the suspect word was important to the meaning of that sentence, Harris says that the bomb needed perfect balance or it would vibrate. The rest of his his opinions are readable.
