Was it black or dark green? Asking for a friend.
I added a link with an article by a renowned researcher in my previous post. The link appears in blue letters. Click it and follow the text.

Cheers!

lol......I already did! Yes, I believe you (and Falke Eins). I did used to think/swear it was dark green but I've been swayed!
For that particular a/c I've never seen a source mentioning it was dark green. There was a discussion about the fuselage number 5 being green or blue, but that's what I remember.
Check here as well - this is by default my first place to search for Bf 109.
And one more thing: many sources misspell the name of the pilot as Manfred Deiterle - it's Dieterle.
Cheers!

Thanks for that and NO, it's Greiner, not Griener.

Bf 109F-4 Werk Nummer 7232 flown by Uffz. Oswald Fischer of 10.(Jabo)/JG26. On the 20th of May 1942 he was shot down and made a forced landing. The Bf 109F was sent to the RAF Farnborough for testing. On 21st August 1942 after tests there it was moved to the RAF Collyweston where the aircraft was renovated ( the engine was replaced ) and tested by RAF starting on 24th of October 1942, The RAF no. NN644. The tests were taken without the armament and the gunsight.Initially the camo consisted of Dark Green and Earth Brown colours at the top surfaces. The undersides were yellow painted.Later it got the Dark Green/Ocean Grey upper camo scheme with yellow undersides. The White number 11 and the bomb emblem were of the previous "owner" markings. The airworth plane was owned by No.1426 Flight in Collyweston untill the unit cancelling in November 1945.Her farther dole is unknown.Possible it was sent to a scrap-heap.

On 20th May 1942 during the Jabo mission that was carried by 10.(Jabo)/JG26, the Bf 109F-4 flown by Uffz. Oswald Fischer was hit by Anti-Aircarft Artillery over the Brighton harbour. That day Fischer with another pilot together tried to sink with bombs a big ship belayed there. The AAA fire was very fierce and one flak shell hit and damaged the aircraft. The pilot could have launched and sunk into the English Channel water. That's way he made a decision about making an emergency landing without the main landing gear opened on a ground. He did it at Beachy Head area. There Fischer and his plane with minor damages were captured by Englishmen.

I'm not quite sure why is Wurger's text about the captured Bf 109F there.
The a/c in this photo is Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6/R6 WNr. 15270 ,ex yellow 14 of 6./JG 53, captured at Comiso, Italy, summer 1943. Flown as VX 101. Another photo of the same a/c here:

I have seen a fucking awfull lot of pictures. More then i think most of you combined will ever have seen or collected. Not to mention documents of all sorts. And shared a fair portion.

There will be mistakes i am sure.

Dont be pedentic.
It takes my fun out of the game.

I see both sides of the issue actually. No biggie as far as I'm concerned. March on! :salute:

There is no issue. Or sides. Just politeness in conversation. The lack of it in this case. There was a button for that somewhere i believe.
