MIA since 19 April, 1943 when he had to make a forced landing in Wk# 14810 on frozen Lake Bolschoje, near Murmansk, after aerial combat with Soviet fighters (Hurricanes) of 2/GSAP/VVS. Another source identified the G-2 as Wk # 14810. His victor is thought to have been Soviet Ace, Lt Nikolai Bokii. He was picked up by a Soviet patrol a few days later. Never repatriated, he was seen in a Murmansk prison in 1947, and has been missing ever since. He seems to have died in Soviet captivity, but one source claims he lived until the 1990s, after a long career as a flight instructor in the USSR. New Soviet publicatios say he was shot in a POW Camp on 21 October, 1943, identified as Lager (Camp) Temnikov by P. Bastin. Presumably, all his victories were in the East. His first known victory, a Soviet I-16 on 12 September, 1941, on his third mission. On 26 April, 1942, he downed five Pe 3s of 95 IAP. By the end of 1942, his victory count was around 80. His 94th, and last victory, JG-5s 500th victory was claimed on 13 March, 1943. Injured in a non-operational crash in Wk#13919 on 3/8/43 south of Alakurtti due to engine trouble. Alternate spelling: Mueller.
