I have a doubt the Fl.22230 airspeed indicator was used for the early Bf 109s. Looking at pics of the Bf 109A,B,C,D and E, it can be noticed that the range of the speed was of 60-750 km/h but not 60-550 km/h. See the pics below. The speed range indicates the Fl.22231 Fahrtmesser rather. According to a couple of sources the type of the airspeed indicator ( Gerat Nr. 127-501C-1 ) was used for the Ar 96, Bf 109 (early variants), Bf 110, Ju 87, Ju 88, Do 217. The Fl.22230 ( Gerat Nr. 127-501B-1 ) was used for the Ar 79, Ju 52, Me 108, Bu 181, Ju 52, He 111, Do 17, Do 24. The later sub-types of the Bf 109 including the late E-7 ( IIRC ) got the airspeed indicator Fl.22234 ( Gerat 127-501E-1 ) of the speed range 100-900 km/h.

What is more , looking at the pic of the indicator I got the impression that the indicator housing was intended just for the airspeed indicator Fl.22231. The embossed orginal ID plate was sanded down and covered with a nameplate decal. If you have a close up look at the plate you may find that the Gerat Nr. that should be 127-501B-1 is somehow misshapen with the digits "75" of a different size seen. The same you can see for the Werk Nr.. The number "31" is not the serial but the part of the previous Fl. number just the 22231. Please have a look at the shot below. The left one is the Fl.22230 with the housing of the 22231 and the roght one is the orginal Fl.22231 indicator with the embossed ID plate.
