Aw flaming stralia
I decided to start new threads on WW2 aircraft and engine manufacturers in house publications. They contain a wealth of data on what was going on at the time, including designs that never progressed off the drawing board.

Clipboard01.jpg

Because they were a morale raising publication they naturally contain a strong bias towards the manufacturers goods and their own country. They also cover what faults were fixed in the products and a wealth of other material

I will provide links to sites I have found and I will update it as I find more and if anyone can provide links, or scans of other in house and Field Service publications for the other engine manufacturers such as Bristol, Packard, Pratt, Rolls, Wright, etc it will make this thread a good source of data and interesting "what if's"

Where practical I will also upload the magazines themselves so that if the original site dies or changes the path to the file the forum copy is still available.

Engines wise I am starting with:
..... AllisoNews, twice monthly staff newspaper from Allison
..... Tail Spins, Monthly magazine for Allison Field service reps

I will edit this page to link to the Airframe manufacturers pubs once started with Convair, Curtiss and Ryan.

So - first the site for the above Allison publications is Allison Transmission or Allison Transmission

I will upload the Tail spins first in the next few posts and AllisoNews in a separate post or two after that.

Happy reading

I don't know if you've posted any more AllisoNEws or Tale Spins, besides the ones above (last done in 12/2017, I believe)...I can speak for a bunch of folks who'd love to see them!

They are a WEALTH of how WWII was for my mom (who did not work during WWII while Dad was away in the USAAF) and dad's generation.

Great stuff! Thanks!

Tom

Here are some more AllisoNews but there are many gaps in these. Unfortunately I have not got my hands on those gaps but you can find low resolution copies at Advanced Search using the search term AllisoNews Vol x where x is the Volume year you want. Volume years run July to June

I have not lucked on to any more Tail Spins
