Look at how low that aircraft is and at how beautifully-level that torpedo is. This, again, is a picture-perfect drop. It's what everything boils down to, in these. It's what we call the "garden spot." What you're trying to do, of course, is lead the target. Think of it like you're in a submarine or torpedo-boat, but you're in the air. You don't want to be right on top of that target, as you're flying right into the mouth of its guns. You want to build up sufficient speed, too, to get the hell out of there, and hopefully get home. Below is a TBF/TBM, for a quick comparison. It's when these aircraft are disrupted that the trouble starts. When they can come in unimpeded, that's one thing. When they can't, you can't fault the aircraft for that.
