I think its an ECM pod. Looks a little small for a droptank.

Not sure what that was either, but doesn't look like a drop tank. Dramatic experience for the pilot no doubt. Good thing he managed to eject and that airplane fell to the water so there wasn't any accidental casualty on the ground.

Must admit that judging by the thread title I thought that you were referring to actual tank (as armored wehicle) and not an aircraft drop tank.
