flat or gloss paint on WWII aircraft

    In general, most WWII aircraft were painted with flat colors. However, there were a few aircraft painted with a base white or other bright color. These were typically for airshows, for target practice, a formating bomber, etc. My question is this: were these airplanes painted in a flat white or a gloss white?
