Interesting that the arrow is held to the right of the bow, and also the use of both hands to shoot.
As a kid of about 10 or 12, along with some friends, we all made our own version of the long bow, and made our own arrows, and got pretty good with them too, being able to hit targets accurately, and at some distance and, in some instances, even hitting pigeons in flight. My friends thought it strange that I held the arrow to the right (the outside) of the bow, but it just seemed natural to me, as did using both hands, or more correctly, both arms, to increase the 'throw' when shooting the arrow.
