G3M "Nell" vs the world: 1937

Another contemporary is the Hampden. A plane I always had a softspot for. I think the pilots that flew the plane to Berlin on the early raids must have had nerves of steel.

Not disagreeing with the bravery of the pilots but we are running into a timing problem here.

Many WW II aircraft had prototypes fly in 1936-37 but a lot fewer had production aircraft delivered to a service squadron in 1937 (or even most of 1938) and the Hampden falls in that catagory. First squadron to receive Hamptons was No 49 Squadron in Sept of 1938 despite prototype flying on the 21st of June 1936.

I didn't start the thread so it is not really up to me to decide what a "1937 bomber" is but the Japanese G3M Nell was used in combat (in small numbers) in 1937.

The American B-18 mentioned in the first post had 36 planes delivered by Nov 8th of 1937 out of a 132 plane order.
