More paint magic coming. Spraying on those stripes is difficult enough, brushing on just added a second dimension.
 
So got started.

Fuselage inserts seem to fit well.

Assembled and painted the cockpit, then noticed I'd put the lower parts in the wrong way round !

Fixed that before fitting to fuselage side

Fuselage together, you can see a gap at the front of the cockpit opening, this is where the inserts dont meet !

Gap is filled with a bead of glue and smoothed over.

I think that gap is a known issue and you did well. It's much easier to fix the gap than to close the gap and deal with a step in the insert on the fuselage walls.
 
I have the Hasegawa kit in the stash and every time I pull it out and look at it that insert worries me and I put it back. Good to know it fits well.
Fit really well on the sides but left that small gap on the upper surface.
I glued them to each side first before closing up the fuselage, seemed to fit better that way.
