Appreciate the offer Terry and I may take you up on that if I don't come up with something myself. I did take look at a water bottle I had laying around and may give it a try for the side panels.

Sorry gents but there's no way this model will be done before the GB deadline but I will continue with this thread as I muddle on.
 
Yup!

Small progress to show. The bomb bay doors were always planned by me to be closed for this build and I used, for the first time, the fully closed cast doors which, as it turned out, were not a great fit. There was some mismatch, either in the doors or in the fuselage or both that wouldn't be fixed through careful alignment so I did my best and had to resort to putty and sprue to fix the seams. The entry hatch got the sprue treatment and all of this will need to be sanded down, smoothed and rescribed.



This remains my least favourite aspect of modelling but it's necessary for coming up with a clean build. It's also the reason I'll not finish on time.

Thanks for continuing to follow along and for the comments. I'm looking forward to getting some paint on this bird and getting it done.
