Well, as I've already said in another thread, My Osh adventures have taken a turn from the usual photofest were I take umpteen thousand pics over the 7 days to the point that although I will have my camera with me next year, it will probably stay at the campsite thru the day as I will be soo dayum busy.
I think I managed to get something like 1400 pics this year because it was full on each day and the few times I did have my camera, it was rarely ready !
I won't post a load of pics in one go but will spread the ones I want to share singly
I'll start with this one.
I get invited up on top of the Air Boss tower to watch the remainder of the afternoon show. I'm busy chatting to a few of the crew up there when one of the guys up there says 'WOW !!!, I turned around and had just enough time to lift the camera and turn it on before BLAM !.
When you are underneath a Jug doing Mach Jesus barrelling down and curving onto the display line about 60 feet above were you are standing...it's an event !. Yes, that is the ariel on the tower in pic !
The noise from the clockwork under the hood and that huge prop was just utterly astounding and then with a whoosh...and yes we did feel the sliptstream !...he was over and we had the smoke settle down on us. Pure Bl**dy magic to witness that at such close quarters I can tell ya !!
Just pure magic !!

Speaking of things that go whoosh instead of deafening roar was this beaut of a Vampire being let loose in the display box. Had to admit that watching the take off roll, I thought he only got airborne curtesy of curvature of the Earth as his roll was soo looooooooong !. I understand this guy also owns 5 other assorted Vampires...but it's not an addiction as he says he can stop anytime :)
Took this from the top of the Tower too

One of the perks for getting the invite to the tower near the end of the runway is that you are on a sort of aiming / turning in point on the flypasts (Also, there aren't umpteen thousand people in the way of your lens ! ) and you get to see close up the show planes with some lovely angles like this one of the Bronco pulling G' almost overhead with the Mitchell suitably blurred and out of focus in the background :)

Next up is this awesome babe !.
First I knew that a Privateer was about to enter my life was at the AirVentureCup Race in Wausau where I was out on the airfield as a staff photog for the race. Eric mentioned a Privateer was about to join the circuit and there was me thinking some kinda highfaluting snazzy private jet or some such when the hairs on the back of my neck started tingling.
When I saw this unique bird heading in with a soundtrack unlike any other Warbird I have witnessed, I knew my life was going to get interesting :)
Long story short, after I introduced myself to Bijan and Robert, I not only got to ride in the nose of her from Wausau into Osh...where we had to wait before getting to the parking slot due to Tigercats trundling around ! :) ...I spent a day with the crew doing routine maintenance and then was invited to see the Wednesday evening airshow sitting out on top of her wing !.
While there I also got to meet up with a bunch of great mates from my CF days and all in all it was a spectacular evening bar none
Took this while we were getting ready for the evening show

Thanks all :)

As I've previously mentioned, I was able to get to some places that joe public doesn't go to during Osh with the result I was able to take pics from angles I normally wouldn't have the opportunity
Watch a bunch of Mig 17's displaying at low level was deffo a highlight for me. I know that jet engine technology is radically different now than from the early days and when the 17's came blasting past at low level with afterburner selected....it was actually a pleasant experience and nothing like at the other end of the scale when the wannabe F35 fly's by with an ear shattering roar (Should be limited to no more than 3 afterburner passes at any show if you ask me and then it can Foxtrot Oscar so more interesting / historic planes can take centre stage but this is my personal view !)

Thanks all :)

What's better than 3 Mig 17's roaring past ?...4 X A10 Thunderbolts in what I think was mentioned was the last time they would be seen at airshows due to finally being phased out of service.
hese guys did a fantastic display and their 4 ship flypast was spectacular indeed with very precise position spacing !!
Took a few pics of 2 of them as they did their respective flyby's with the obligatory A10 pitch up at the end.
Sure gonna miss seeing those bad-boys on the show circuit :(
