Ill have to check properly, but from memory therere were six or so U-Boats used on the Pacific theatre. At the end of the war, several were transferred to the japanese on Germany's surrender. One of these may have been scuttled or was sunk whilst on operations'
According to the article, it is likley to be U-168, lost 6 october 1944 with 23 men lost. The ship made 4 patrols in her careeer and sank about 4 ships during those patrols
