From the March 1953 Flying Magazine.

I saw an interview with an old German WW2 and postwar Lufthansa pilot in which he referred to the Super Constellation as "A three engined airplane with four engines." I assume he was referring to the well known practice of shutting down one of the engines when things looked a bit funny, which happened rather often.
