Two pilots killed as plane fighting Greek wildfires crashes

Two Greek pilots were killed when their plane fighting wildfires crashed on Tuesday, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis warned of tough days ahead with blazes destroying homes and forcing tourist evacuations from the island of Rhodes.

If you watch carefully at the very beginning something falls from the starboard wing.
Could it be the aileron or the float, would the a/c have its flaps down and it lost one ?
l initially thought it might part of the engine or the prop, but it seems to be yellow.

My thoughts and prayers are with the pilots families.

I believe you are right. Looks like the starboard float. So sad.

@ 0:22 in the video, the narrator reports that the plane clipped the tree.

Quite likely snagged the starboard float, tightening the turn into the banked, already slow wing. The CL-215 is yawed markedly to the right if you look at the vapor trail. Looks like they were trying to drop with starboard wing low ... probably the serious mistake, perhaps anticipating clearing the sloping terrain facing them.
When dusting, we always added power wings level and accelerated before turning ... easy to mess up in those slow activities where you get more fixated on the target rather than flying the plane.
Trying to pick up a partially stalled wing with aileron makes the problem worse as any glider pilot learns. The long winged Candair accentuated the problem.
