Hi,
I found this forum while looking for information on JG27 in North Africa. The discussions I found here on the topic were the most thorough, so I thought I'd join and learn some more. If anyone else is interested in the topic, I have all of the Christopher Shores books related to North Africa, and have a few other references as well.

My interests keep expanding, but for now I'm concentrating on JG27 and modeling some of their BF109s. I'm also currently reading about ME262s and the pilots who flew them at the end of the war - their stories, especially after the war, are very interesting.

Welcome. Have a few books on Jg.27 and also N. Africa. Lots of books on 109s
Do you have the Osprey book: 'Aviation Elite Units' - Jagdgeschwader 27 'Afrika' ? I have JG.27 on order, but have read the JG.44 Osprey book, and it's enjoyable.

Welcome from the BritNW.
Specifically, The People's Republic of Hippocroccofrogatania, located in a small enclave of the County of Cheshire, approximately 20 miles south of Manchester. (unless using public transport, then it'll be 39.7 miles !!).

Yep and as with the others in this series, I really like it. I'm not one of those who read books to find errors and if there are any, I wouldn't know. I'm just looking for interesting paint schemes

Just an aside; "color for a plane I'm building" is an in-house running joke that predates my membership. Welcome to The Forum.

Aircraft of the Aces (also Osprey) tends to have some good schemes too.
In the only one I didn't borrow and actually own myself (Legends of WW2) they have one JG.27 scheme but I'm pretty sure they have one on North Africa.
They're pretty good ones for references because at least in the one I have they've got 1:72 side views in the back for scaling
