Hi .
Whilst dog walking yesterday in a wood where a WW2 Spitfire crashed , I picked up an item that was partially covered by earth and leaves. It still had a bullet wedged in it so I know that it is from a gun.The bullet is 20mm so I can only think it is from one of the two Hispano canons in each wing . Can any one help in identifying it please.? I've seen items that resemble it but they are not exactly the same. Could it be the magazine cowling ?.
Kind regards Danny

Yes, feed Shute for 20mm Hispano cannon. Got one the same with a round from Spitfire AD540, deactivated a full drum. Deactivation is not to be recommended when the round has a brass tip as they are HE, I have the aftermaths of HE round exploding and they are not nice.
