He was a busy man.

The name inside the "Karaya" heart on his various aircraft changed. The first one had the official "Edda",for Goering's daughter but Graf soon changed his to "Inge". Inge was not his wife or sweetheart but his sister in law which is a bit odd.
He married in June 1944 to Jola Jobst. After surrendering to the Americans he was handed over to the Soviets who held him until 1949 and this marriage failed. he remarried (twice) the second time in 1959 and he and his wife Helga had two children. He died in 1988,having suffered from Parkinson's disease.
There was a well documented break down in relations between him and some other Luftwaffe veterans relating to his Soviet captivity. It is noteable that the men who had served under him or with him,particularly men like Walter (who captained the 1954 world cup winning West German football team) and Griswalski were steadfast in his support.
