If the French Air Force did manage to acquire those, as ordered, they would have been an even larger laughing stock in the 50s as they already were ... and still are, and always have been.

And it's an observation plane , they're basic designs. It was never meant for combat, unlike the French joke.

Well the only French aircraft I like is Potez 613 and Dewotine D.520... Hmm the other (like Caudron 714, MB.152, MS.406) weren't that nice but still not as ugly as that Potez there...

Actually a piston engined aircraft could have had quite an advantage against jets, especially if it flew slower than the fighters' stalling-speed.
