Worked at Donzi in the mid 80's for a while, got more than one ride in some pretty mean ass boats I can tell you. One I remember was a smallish cigarette style with twin BIG BLOCK CHEVYS... Holy Mother of God...

Talk about sound and fury significant of a perma-grin, and a sore back.

Ended up with a 22 footer with a single 454 big block Chevrolet, more than enough to get into trouble with. I miss that boat.

The Spit was a great interceptor. The P51 was the right bomber escort at the right time. The Thunderbolt was a great FIGHTER.

Not a lot of folks know that the P-51A/B/C/D and A-36 were the dominant FIGHTER in CBI, along with P-40. The P-47 was at best an afterthought in the CBI while even A-36 flew escort to A-20, B-25/26.

The P-51 was perhaps the most complete and versatile of any fighter in context of LR Escort, Interceptor (CBI), CAS, Tac recon, LR Escort). FW 190 and P-47 and P-38 are in the argument, maybe F4U.

The British should have begged borrowed or stolen the plans in 1940/1 and given them to Hawkers. BTW what is CBI?

As a sailboater in my younger years, I know that having the legal right-of-way doesn't mean that you demand it in every situation.

Large ships don't turn on a dime and the crew may have difficulty even being able to see you.
