It's A400M: always with an 'M'. As with the Transall (C-160D; always with a hyphen and a 'D') the suffix letters didn't signify a variant. IIRC the 'M' in A400M (no hyphen) signified 'Military' as the first dedicated Airbus programme.

I apologise for my gross negligence, total lack of any understanding re the nuances of naming convections, plead guilty and throw myself onto the mercy of the court.
 
It's a shame that you felt the need to be petulant at the mention of a minor correction, with explanation.
