Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo has been reported to be the fastest elite soccer player in the world when running with a ball, a study indicates.
According to the study, carried out by the weekly German magazine Der Spiegel, the £80million Portuguese football star topped the speed charts by clocking at an impressive 33.6km per hour (20.88mph).
It seems that Cristiano Ronaldo's sprint training with 100m world record holder Usain Bolt from Jamaica looks to have paid off.
The study further stated that the 24-year-old Ronaldo blows past defenders by using this quality to full effect.
Bayern Munich's winger Arjen Robben (32.9 kph) stood in the second place ahead of Arsenal's Theo Walcott (32.7 kph).Manchester United's Wayne Rooney (32.6 kph) was fourth followed by Arsenal's Robin Van Persie (32.1 kph).
