Hi all

Just wondering if anyone can give me a positive ID on this wing, I took a photo of it at the Kokopo War Museum on New Britain when I visited last year.

I spoke to someone on site at the time who told me what it was from, initially I had thought it was from a Zero but he told me it had come from an Oscar - although I can't recall if that was the exact aircraft ID he provided. The only specifics of the conversation I can remember was he said it was from 'the plane that replaced the Zero', which I found strange given my understanding that the Oscar was Army and the Zero Navy...anyhow...

Thanks, any assistance greatly appreciated :)

A good picture, Maticash.
The wing design shows it's from either A6M2, A6M2-N or A6M3-22.
I have no exact idea about which one.

Thank you Shinpachi and Wurger, this has confirmed my suspicions. I was a bit baffled by the ID I was provided at the time - especially having seen the wing on the more complete Zero (image attached) not 20m from the one photographed some 2 minutes earlier!
