Japanese film about Pearl Harbour

Hi everyone, just found this image, not sure if it comes from a training scenario prior to Pearl Harbor attack or a commemorative film. At the page where this come from, noone claimed about Photoshop, so I understand that this is real. The degree of detail looks amazing.

That was a set created for the movie the Japanese made during WW2 about the attack.
If the photo was made before the attack, it probably would have a aircraft carrier or 2, because the Japanese hoped they would be there.
As it is the photo almost exactly represents what was there.

That's battleship row, I beleive the carriers used different mooring quays across the channel from Ford Island (far to the right, well out of frame in this picture).

That appears to be the Nevada in the foreground, the Vestal would be closest to the guy wading in the channel, the Arizona to the right of the Vestal, etc.

Yes, that is a movie set for ハワイ・マレー沖海戦 (The War at Sea from Hawaii to Malay) in 1942.

The three US carriers would have been docked at Ford Island
Battleship Row lies at the bottom of a set of quays used by the bulk of Pearl Harbor's battleships. On the day of the attack, the battleships Oklahoma (BB-37), Maryland (BB-46), West Virginia (BB-48), Tennessee (BB-43), Arizona (BB-39), and Nevada (BB-36) were moored there. The USS California (BB-44) was moored farther down at Quay F-3, just behind where the USS Enterprise is in the October, 1941 picture (at Quay F-2) [1]. These battleships bore the brunt of the torpedo, high-level bombing, and dive bombing attacks on Pearl Harbor that day. The USS Pennsylvania (BB-38), the other battleship in port that day, was in the Navy Yard undergoing overhaul. The other battleship in the Pearl Harbor force was the USS Colorado (BB-45). She was in undergoing overhaul on the West Coast.

Little did they know their vid was celebrating the beginning of the end of their empire. It's almost like the moment the Nazis open the Ark in Indiana Jones.... we all know it's going to go badly for them.

It amazes that all the battleships were docked on Sunday morning when there was caution in the air and indications that Japan was on the move. Just having some battleships on station a few hundred miles or further to the west of Hawaii would have made a much quicker response to any move by Japan. A lot of people had their head up and locked.
