For Betty pilots, remarkable green cross was risky due to friendly fire on the way to Ie-shima.
They even flew to the south directly to take enough distance from the homeland and then turned to the west to reach the destination.
There was a reason.
As my Father used to say, "There is always that 10% that doesn't get the word." Those Betty pilots were avoiding that 10%.
 
They turned to the west at the Torishima Island.
