Basically a re-designed Ki-84. Its engine was downgraded to 1500hp Ha-112-II and the propeller was changed to a 3 bladed one. Furthermore weight was significantly reduced to not hamper the performance
Loaded Weight of the Ki-84 was 3600kg whilst the loaded Weight of the Ki-116 was 350kg less. The top speed decreased along with its rate of Climb but the Agility increased. For example Ki-84's wing Loading is 171.4kg/m2 whereas Ki-116's is 154.8kg/m2.

Hello Laurelix,

It seems from information posted earlier from translated Japanese tests that the Dive Speed Limit should be 750 KPH for a regular Ki-84.
Is there a reason why the dive limits increased with the Ki-116?

Sources for Ki-116 state 800. But the Ki-116 did undergo modifications to the plane so maybe it effected it. But I'm not 100% sure
