Large U Shaped Antenna on C-47

What radio set does the large U shaped antenna on a C-47/C-117 ect. feed and what is the AN number. Seems like a simple question but I'm unable to get AI to help.

It was for the BC-733 Glideslope Receiver and the ARR-1 Homing Beacon receiver. Antenna is an AN100.

While we're on the subject, is there a list somewhere of what radio and nav equipment American World War 2 aircraft would have been equipped with? Even searching individual aircraft on the interwebs has proven difficult to fill in the gaps. Any thoughts other than individual parts T.O.s?

Don't think there is any complete list. The problem is that radio installations changed rapidly and often at times due to which theater the a/c went to and as they were upgraded. The L-5 is a good example, in that depending on which model and build s/n, had something like 7 different radio packages. Some of the radios stayed in the a/c only for US operations and were removed prior to overseas deployment.

There is a list of standard fit outs applicable at the time it was compiled (52b-43-01 Airborne Radio Equipment Handbook 1943-04) but there were so many variations due to local requirements, as well as those items mentioned by C cvairwerks , so it is only a rough guide for that particular time. Air to ground comms often had to work with the ground forces in the area so had to be compatible with whatever the army or navy or other nation or whoever else was in the area was using as the area standard.

Sometimes this was by fitting additional radios but in fighters there was often not enough room for the additional radio so something else had to come out. Some of these options were covered by TOs but many were just local mods.

Thanks guys,. Very interesting read even though limited number of aircraft shown. I understand your comments about different gear for different Theaters so virtually impossible to produce an accurate, up to date list. Thanks for offering this.
