Thank you very much for your swift reply!
I am not sure though whether it is really him on the picures after the model airplane but I am eager to show them to family and see what they say.
I even managed to find details of his last official victory, the Mosquito and the pilots within, but I do not remember how I got there as it was late at night and I only saved the bookmark and not a browser history. In the end, it would be good to have that information for all his victories.
Any suggestion how to proceed to get to that information or do you think I was just lucky to find it for his last claim? Also, I found discrepancies about his final battle, when he was downed by a spitfire, and parachuted into the channel somewhere between England and France. Reports say that he died then, but rumour in my family is he was then saved and held hostage on an allied battleship, whis was later sunk by german forces. Unfortunately, my older relatives, grief strucken by war directly themselves could never do such a project and I find some 80 years later it is about time to look at what happened, pay respects to the victims (even if it is "only" emotionally) and deal with it in whatever way to avoid things like that happening ever again!
