What happened to VT-5?
According to this after action report, VT-5 had 9 operational planes, but it seemed that they all missed battle of midway and they were replaced by VT-3?

Hi Skywalker,

It wasn't just the planes - the Yorktown crews were roughed up by the actions during the Battle of the Coral Sea. Saratoga's crews, including VT-3, had seen minimal action at that time, and were pretty fresh, so they were among the units before heading to Midway.

It wasn't just the planes - the Yorktown crews were roughed up by the actions during the Battle of the Coral Sea. Saratoga's crews, including VT-3, had seen minimal action at that time, and were pretty fresh, so they were among the units before heading to Midway.

So you mean that VT-5's crew suffered loss during Coral Sea and VT-3 came to maintain Yorktown's power

When I was researching colors of USN's birds during different stages of WWII, your books helped a lot, not only me but also my friends.
Your Aircraft Pictorial about OS2U and F4U-1 also contributed a lot

The image may be of the Ranger (launched five years earlier), but that was a commemorative celebrating the Yorktown's launch (note the date on the postmark).

That was the during the depression, so perhaps they reused the printing plate?

Hi Skywalker,

VT-5 suffered no combat losses during the missions against the Japanese, but once they were back on Yorktown they were subject to the same exhaustion as the rest of the crew on the combat-damaged carrier. It seemed wiser to rest weary, stressed crews, replacing them with fresh aircrews who'd seen no combat since February.
