I feel what your saying, as too many have said such, better off listening to your own playlist via some sort of mp3 - I'm sure it isn't too hard to get a stereo/data input of some kind for car audio these days. I hope those vehicles fitted with Ipod docks also have an alternative USB backup for those not wishing to pay for another monopolistic system.

Personally, the only radio I do listen to is Radio 4 (BBC) and occasionally Kerrang until I get 'repeatitus' or bored.
'Comercialised radio' has gone the same way as digital/cable tv, multiple loops of the same often repeated shows, with few new content and extra boredom added, but with some good 'jewels' to be hunted for amongst tha vast amount of trash. ...sort of like using a search engine then

XM radio has lots of specialty stations Oldies, 70's, 80's, Folk, Love, etc which are almost commercial free plus stations that give weather and old-time radio serials that are great for long drives.

Razor, actually, my Scion's stereo has AM/FM1/FM2/XM(satellite)/AUX/iPod

The stereo has the AUX iPod connections in the center console. The controls for the stereo are of course, on the front of the stereo AND on the steering wheel.

My iPod is the limited edition black nickel chrome 80Gb and most people get all sorts of apps for thier iPods...I don't have any of that stuff, because my iPod has a car! :D

Grau, same here for the Sky plus a 6-disk CD changer which I have never used. My IPOD is ancient, you have to wind it up

I nick songs off Limewire, burn my own CD or load on ipod and away I go.

"In some secluded rendezvous...."
