Dear fellow members,
I am a UK based B-26 Marauder researcher, and wish to acquire the official accident report files for JM-1 & JM-2 Marauder aircraft used by the US Navy & Marine Corps during WW2.
These reports were available from the US Navy archives at San Diego, but the digital archives branch seems to have been closed to public access for several years now. The latest feedback I got was in July 2024 that all reports from 1942 to 1969 were being transferred to Naval Safety Command for digitising.
Requests for updates now go unanswered.
I can purchase copies of these from a couple of pay per report sites, which may be my only option, but the cost is quite prohibitive.
Does any of the members have copies of any of the official reports, and would be willing to share with me, and/or trade for other digitised microfilm records on the B-26 Marauder that I already own that may assist in their own research.
This is one branch of my research that so far I have been unable to complete.
As a heads-up for anyone looking at acquiring USAAF records from the Air Force Historical Research Agency (AFHRA), this has been closed off to non-US resident requests. The reason given as lack of support personnel to deal with requests, and most likely also funding cuts.
I have attached a pdf file list of all the known reports of JM-1 and JM-2 aircraft, listed by date, Navy Bu number, etc.
Any assistance or pointers would be very much appreciated.
