Long ago I was visiting the island and I saw this giant aircraft on the lake. I drove up and said "hi nice airplane " and they spent an hour talking to me about how they maintained the aircraft off season and just how hard it was to fight the corrosion. I couldn't go on board as it was moored out but it was unforgettable just to see it near and so kind of the guys to talk to me.

Always a sad day to see the final retirement of a great aircraft type. I think that Coulson did very well with their operation and final retirement of these aircraft.
There will have also have been a huge amount of pure hard work by skilled personnel, probably a lot more work than was paid for!
