Me-262 Planned for Oshkosh Airshow

The Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia, has a big goal in mind for an "Only at Oshkosh" moment in 2025: The arrival of its Messerschmitt Me 262 fighter jet reproduction at Wittman Regional Airport in July. If it occurs, it would be a first for one of the few aircraft types that has not made an appearance at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.

Imagine the adventure of flying one from VA to Oshkosh. The conversations with ATC would be fun!

I recall one Saturday at Tinker AFB when the airplanes for a big airshow were arriving.

"Hello, Ok city Approach Control? This is Tinker AFB Operations. We would like for you to relay a message to some aircraft that we have inbound. The aircraft type is a B-29 and a B-17. No! I said BEEEEE Twenty Nine! Yes! That's right. The message is, tell them to come straight in to the field and not wait for the P-51's and the other fighters."

I could imagine Ok City Approach replying, "Okay, who is this, really? You know this is an official line!"

The MAM's 262 was on the airshow circuit in 2013. I saw it in Hamilton Ontario.
