There was a substantial improvement in performance when they went to the ejector exhausts, and even the saxophone exhaust, compared to the original exhaust.

Most day use Mosquitoes, such as the FB.VI, used the ejector exhausts.
 

Nice post, Wayne. That's the two illustrations I found, too. It looks like there are at least 4 configurations, if not more; these right above plus the 6-into-1 single exhaust (also above) and the 6 individual exhaust manifolds. There might be more.

The one visiting in our hangar has the 6-into-5 manifolds (top illustration of the two above) and is configured as an FB Mk.VI. It is a really nice-looking airplane! Of course, being a Mosquito, that's a bit of a given.
 
Yeah, not too many people want to spend what is costs to fly a Mosquito and have to do it IFR up high where the 2-stage makes a difference. Most warbird pilots stay VFR and bend the bird around a bit on regular occasions.
