The Mosquito of Group Captain Pickard was lost on the Amiens Raid, and you may not know who he was...

But if you have ever seen the film target for today with the wellington F-Freddie. although the pilot in the film was called Dixon, but he was in fact Group Captain Pickard himself!!

A Tragic loss...

I agree - I have always thought it a cruel twist of fate that only one plane should have been lost on this raid.... and for it to be none other than GC Pickard himself... not sure if he was the only casualty or if the nav bought it as well...

I wonder if in the later Star Trek series they chose the name Piccard by way of some kind of devious homage? Probably not...
