Thanks for posting this Jerry. Have you seen any other updates in recent publications? Does you (or anyone) know if there are any drawings showing the cannon installation in the Modeller's Data File (SAM Publications) on the P-51 Part I - Allison Powered by Malcolm Lowe? I have also read that the aircorpslibrary.com website also has some good drawings. Has anyone tried it? Thanks.

Hello to everyone!!! Has anyone Modeller's Data File 24 (SAM Publications) on the P-51 Part 2 ? I have the part 1 and I need it for my 1/32 Tamiya Mustang P-51D. Thanks properly!!!

Maybe somebody can help me with the following request:
I'm looking for a Technical Manual (don't know the exact name of it) for P-51B/C. Judging by its number this is a an AAF-manual, not a NAA-one. The number is 102-31-129 (not sure if the last digit is 9 though). In fact I'm looking for one diagram only, showing dorsal fin installation as a retrofit. I have a page with Figure 2 (see below) and I'm looking for Figure 1 as mentioned in the text.
Thanks in advance!

Hey CATCH 22,

I think th number "102-31-129" is the drawing number. These drawings were often made for the AAF by NAA.

You may be able to find the drawing you are looking for on the AirCorps Library website - they have a lot of the drawings for the P-51.

Otherwise, you may find it in a Technical Order (sorry, I have no idea what the numbers would be).

Hi Thomas, thank you for your reply.
The technical orders dealing with the dorsal fin I have are:
T.O. 01-60JE-2
T.O. 01-60JE-8
You are right - it is the# of the drawing - the first T.O. above shows e.g. drawing 109-23-45 (see attached).
The drawing I'm looking for is not part of the above T.O.s
I see now my first copy is just a cropped page from something (another T.O.?) and does not show the page #.

P.S. Asked Google and this is what I found. Figure 1 is there!
Cheers!

P.P.S.
I'm attaching both dorsal fins (fin fillets) as per drawings in question - see posts above.
Yes, they are 2 different types and this was the reason to search for those drawings. The fillet for P-51B/C is by 10 1/4" longer than the respective one for P-51D/K.
Cheers!

Interesting. If I were still building model kits, the (field?) modification process would be a good subject for a diorama.
