Is that pic from your actual aircraft Bill or is it a different one?
Not our aircraft. The cheek guns and the ammunition boxs had been removed in the aircraft we used giving the navigator and me a lot more room. You can see the back of the navigator's chair in the lower left hand corner.

Nice photograph Bill! ;)

How did you feel about being the tip of the spear inside your bomber?
Was the amazing view something that you enjoyed in your missions or something that made you feel apprehensive?

Cheers

Note:
I tried to include the painting "Mission Regensburg" by Gil Cohen which is fitting to this thread but obviously I did something wrong so I'd be grateful if one of the mods could assist me

I was the first over the target and the first home:) I really liked the position and the view was breath taking. Thanks for sharing the attached files.

My pleasure Bill :)
I am sure the white cliffs in southern England were such a sight on the way home!

My attaching process was evidently botched but we all make mistakes in life :p

This painting is one of my absolute favorite WWII Aviation paintings. It depicts 100th BG bombardier Lt. James R. Douglas and his navigator Lt. Harry H. Crosby en route to Regensburg, Germany to attack a Messerschmitt assembly plant during the infamous August 17th, 1943 Mission

Cheers!

What did the crews do with all the spent cartridges rolling around underfoot ?
Sweep them away to out of way areas if you had the time ?
Or just learn to watch your step, and live with it ?

The waist gunners had the biggest problem. They did have to be mindful of their presence.
