OS2U Kingfisher airplane question

Hi,
I have some questions on the OS2U Kingfisher airplane.
Under the left wing there is a lamp. See the picture.

1. What was it used for ? Landing light or search light or some other use.. ?

2. Was the light retractable/extendable ?

I have never seen pictures of it extended or light turned on.

please help me!

I believe it's a landing light. many aircraft have that configuration where it flips down and goes on when activated.

You are correct. One of those little things I learned while building mine.

I agree. Mustang had a similar one but in the wheel well.
