P-29 or Spitfire wreck?

Here's an underside line-drawing of the P-39F.



I tried to do a composite of the drawing over the original wreckage, but the angle of the airframe is just too difficult to get it all squared up.

But it's certainly a match.

Red ring - nose wheel well doors. Black arrow points to the fuselage rack. Green rings - oil cooler flap. Between those is the exit of the cooling duct, it's flap missing. Pink arrows - area usually covered by wing-fuselage fairing. P-39 all the way.

I think it is a P-39, but cannot see the engine in the pic. ALso the wing position oif correct for a P-39. Everything points to a P-39 ... but I can't make out the engine.

Perhaps I'm blind ... but I agree it looks like P-39. Would NOT have wanted to ride that one down.
