I am no expert by any means B-17, but I found that sable brushes are far superior to just about anything. Particulalry for fine work, the last thing you want is a brush with hairs sticking out in all directions. As to brands types, I dont think it matters
I use acrylics mostly, because they are easier in my opinion. After i was the brushes, i "groom" my brushes by making the hairs all come to a point, and then i lay the brush flat. You can disfigure the brush if you leave it to soak too long. I imagine this would be the same if you are using thinners instead of water as your cleaning agent.
